Submit to the West Creek Journal
West Creek Journal is a literary magazine that publishes twice a year with a revolving reading period. Response times may take up to two months, so please wait to follow up on a submission until that time has passed. We are reading for our debut issue.
Our submission periods are:
- July 1st - July 31st (September publication)
- December 1st - December 31st (February publication)
We aim to publish the best quality writing from writers anywhere, with a preference for writers living in the Parma area. As advocates of the written word, we believe words can nourish, heal, and build community. Our mission is to share pieces that do just that. While we take quality writing of any type, we prefer to read work in line with these values. Works that disparage, disrespect, and/or dishonor any people, groups, or identities will not be considered. We will also auto-reject AI-written or AI-assisted writing.

Submission Rules:
All submissions should be sent to [email protected] as either text pasted in the body of an email or in a Word doc attachment. Other file formats will not be considered. In the title of your email, please write your first and last name with the genre of your submission: “Jane Doe, Fiction”. Please include a bio with your submission, up to 150 words max.
We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if your work has been accepted elsewhere. We do not accept previously published work. Please only send only one submission per person, per genre. Once your work has been either rejected or accepted, please wait six months before resubmitting.
Fiction - We accept short fiction of up to 5,000 words. Please submit only one fiction piece per publication period. Micro-fiction is accepted.
Poetry - Please send up to 5 poems. We do not have a preference for rhyming or free verse poetry.
Creative Nonfiction - We accept creative nonfiction of up to 5,000 words. Please submit only one nonfiction piece per publication period. Essays and book reviews are encouraged.
