The Flamingo Writers' Guild offers individual and recurring events throughout the year.
We offer three recurring events: 1) Mingle w/ the Flamingos! This is our monthly online reading series. 2) Shut Up and Write! On the first Thursday each month we get together and silently write. You'd be amazed how well this works. Hosted by Barbara Marie Minney. 3) Pens & Pints. We co-host this with Young Professionals of Parma, and it is held in-person once every three months.
Our one-off workshops are hosted both online and in-person. Some workshop sessions are recorded, and may be found on our Youtube channel. If you would like to host a workshop, or want to request a workshop topic from the staff, please email us at [email protected].
Untethered: The Dissociation of Craft, Memory, and Object in Writing What does 'permanence' mean? How subjective is your reality, how well can you trust your memory, and how can these ideas be harnessed into your writing? Building upon surrealist principles, techniques based on the self, and the concept of defamiliarization by Viktor Borisovich Shklovsky, this workshop will offer writing ideas that will reshape your idea of where the writer ends, and where ideas begin. Powers Library 6996 Powers Blvd Parma, OH 44129 Thursday, October 26th 5:30 - 6:30 PM
